I've Been Looking For Love in Another's Eyes

"I've been looking for love in another's eyes, searching for water but I come up dry. Thought that I could find happiness in the world's applause."

These are the first few lines to the song "You" by Britt Nicole. This song came out when I was in 5th grade and I would jam out to it on my iPod touch.

Recently, I found a "2000's Christian Hits" playlist and it brought back so many good songs that I played on repeat in my childhood. This song by Britt Nicole came on and I smiled. I still remember every word from elementary school!

I didn't focus on the words I was singing until the end of the song and every line is so applicable to my personal journey. I was so in love with my husband. I thought the entire world of him. He was perfect for me and I would do anything for him.

I relied on him to make me happy. I relied on him to fulfil me and give me the joy in life. I loved being with him, and we had such a good time together so duh, why wouldn't he make me happy? Well, he did make me happy but I was looking to him and only him to make me happy.

This isn't his fault. It is not his fault that I didn't wake up and realize God wasn't present in my life. I knew I needed a relationship with God but didn't really care enough to spend time in His word or do anything outside of the 1 hour church service each week.

I was looking for love in my husband's eyes. In addition to, my dog and my friends and my family and my stuff. I wasn't looking to God for it at all. The joy and fulfillment I am feeling today is only possible because of the Lord God. I mean there is seriously nothing at all that could compare to this.

I am excited to keep growing with Christ and to see what else God has in store for my future. I am divorced from my best friend of 3.5 years, but I am doing okay. Yeah some days are tough, but I have so much joy and happiness that is coming from God and God alone. It is the sweetest discovery I have made.

I have God and I also have some pretty radical friends down here in The Woodlands! Subscribe to my blog to read the next post about how God works in crazy ways and how I already have more friends than I can count.

How can I be praying for you? Leave a prayer in the box on my home page!

xoxo,

Morgan Leigh

Here is a picture of me and Frank out for a walk on the water. My smile is real. I am happy! And joyful! I am filled with love from The Lord and I am amazed at how God has been present in my life!
